TT Firs Text

About font family

TypeType’s new elegant geometric sans serif with a Nordic character—TT Firs Text!

TT Firs Text’s design was based on the TT Firs Neue typeface that we updated in 2023. We aspired to make it even more neutral, making it stand out with its own unique style at the same time.

Keeping the Scandinavian minimalism aesthetics, we redesigned all expressive elements giving them a more smooth and more traditional look. Due to more standardized text typing, the font remains legible and readable even if a small point size is chosen for typing the text block.

TT Firs Text turned out to be icy and elegant, strict and captivating, and, what is more, highly versatile. It is equally well-suited for websites, book printing, branding, packaging design, and various kinds of posters. There’s almost no limit to how it can be applied.

TT Firs Text includes 23 font styles: 11 roman, 11 italic, and 1 variable font. Each font style consists of 898 characters, counting in the characters of the expanded Latin and Cyrillic writing systems. The font has 31 OpenType features, among which are localization features for various languages, circled numerators, and stylistic alternate for the ampersand.

As for the nature of the new font family, we tried to make it as neutral as possible. As the basis of the new font family, we took the new version of TT Firs Neue, which we released in 2023. We completely redrawn all the fancy and flashy elements of the font family and made them more traditional. TT Firs Text is great for all modern uses.

Ideal font pairs with TT Firs Text

What is a font pair, and what does it serve for?

A font pair is a combination of two fonts within one text block. Most often, one of the fonts in a pair is a more expressive headline font, and the other one serves to communicate information. Such fonts complement each other and help designers solve various tasks, like highlighting key elements, adding emotional expressiveness to the project, or separating semantic blocks.

How to choose fonts for a project: Several general recommendations

To begin with, establish the project's tone. Choose the fonts that stylistically match the main idea. After that, you need to determine the functions of each font in the project and their hierarchy: which font will complement the design and which one will serve to attract attention as the main element. You need to assess the difference between the fonts and decide what kind of information each of them should convey. First, we recommend choosing the base font you will use most, and then you can find a suitable pair for it.

Core principles of font pairing and recommendations from designers

The main rule you should follow when matching two fonts is that both similarities and differences must be visible between them. You can highlight the coherence of fonts by the following characteristics: contrast, proportions, width, openness of characters, individual letter shapes, and overall tone. Feel free to experiment with different combinations. We also recommend analyzing the projects you like: this way, you can enhance your visual skills, elevate your knowledge base, and gain confidence in dealing with typography.
