TT Nooks Serif is a stylish, high-contrast serif with a slight touch of egocentricity. In the initial sketches of the font family, traces of a broad nib were noticeable, but as it evolved, the typeface moved away from this aesthetic, retaining only the high stroke contrast. In addition, during the design explorations, TT Nooks Serif acquired a subtle geometric feel. The serifs stand out particularly vividly in TT Nooks Serif; thanks to their geometric shape, they resemble "slippers." Aside from being unusual, these serifs add stability to the font and help better balance the black and white space within the letters. The typeface originally came out in 2018 and included only 4 font styles. 8 years later, we have significantly transformed it: reimagined the letterforms and revised the proportions. For ease of use, we recalculated the thickness of all font styles and added three new ones. At the same time, the overall impression and image of the font remained the same: TT Nooks Serif is still authentic, noble, and easily recognizable. With the font update, a variable version was also introduced.

Description

About font family TT Nooks Serif
230+ Language support

Meet TT Nooks Serif version 2.000! We have significantly updated the font: reworked the character graphics, seriously expanded the character set, and added new font styles, stylistic sets, features, and languages.

TT Nooks Serif is a display modern serif with a slight touch of egocentricity. It has a sharp and firm, yet elegant and stately character. High contrast and a slight squarishness of the characters give it strictness and angularity, while wide proportions make this font stand out among other contemporary serifs.

The unusual asymmetrical serifs stand out particularly vividly in TT Nooks Serif; thanks to their geometric shape, they resemble „slippers.“ They also add stability to the font and help better balance the black and white space within the letters

Initially, TT Nooks Serif included only 4 font styles. For user convenience, we recalculated the thickness of all styles and added three new ones: Medium, DemiBold, and ExtraBold, as well as a variable font. Also, during the update process, we significantly transformed the typeface: reimagined the letterforms and revised the proportions. At the same time, the overall impression and image of the font remained the same: it is still authentic, noble, and easily recognizable.

In particular, in version 2.000, we supplemented the extended Cyrillic and Latin, expanded the main set of currencies, and added fractions and service symbols. Fresh stylistic sets appeared (for example, with alternate forms of „Q,“ „a,“ „g,“ „y,“ and diamond-shaped punctuation), along with new OpenType features and languages.

TT Nooks Serif is a stylish and vibrant font that reveals itself best in medium and large sizes. There is something chivalrous in its mood, so it will look great on book and magazine covers and in projects related to history and art. The typeface is also highly suitable for web, branding, packaging design, and much more.

TT Nooks Serif 2.000 includes:

  • 8 font styles: 7 upright styles and 1 variable font
  • 904 glyphs per style
  • 28 OpenType features
  • Support for over 230 languages

Ideal font pairs with TT Nooks Serif

What is a font pair, and what does it serve for?

A font pair is a combination of two fonts within one text block. Most often, one of the fonts in a pair is a more expressive headline font, and the other one serves to communicate information. Such fonts complement each other and help designers solve various tasks, like highlighting key elements, adding emotional expressiveness to the project, or separating semantic blocks.

How to choose fonts for a project: Several general recommendations

To begin with, establish the project's tone. Choose the fonts that stylistically match the main idea. After that, you need to determine the functions of each font in the project and their hierarchy: which font will complement the design and which one will serve to attract attention as the main element. You need to assess the difference between the fonts and decide what kind of information each of them should convey. First, we recommend choosing the base font you will use most, and then you can find a suitable pair for it.

Core principles of font pairing and recommendations from designers

The main rule you should follow when matching two fonts is that both similarities and differences must be visible between them. You can highlight the coherence of fonts by the following characteristics: contrast, proportions, width, openness of characters, individual letter shapes, and overall tone. Feel free to experiment with different combinations. We also recommend analyzing the projects you like: this way, you can enhance your visual skills, elevate your knowledge base, and gain confidence in dealing with typography.
